Perturbative QCD predictions for the small x behaviour of unpolarized and polarized deep inelastic scattering structure functions

چکیده
The perturbative QCD predictions for the small x behaviour of the nucleon structure functions F2,L(x,Q 2) and g1(x,Q 2) are summarized. The importance of the double logarithmic terms for the small x behaviour of the spin structure function g1(x,Q 2) is emphasised. These terms correspond to the contributions containing the leading powers of αsln(1/x) 2 at each order of the perturbative expansion. In the non-singlet case they can be approximately accounted for by the ladder diagrams with quark (antiquark) exchange. We solve the corresponding integral equation with the running coupling effects taken into account and present estimate of the effective slope controlling the small x behaviour of the non-singlet spin structure function g1(x,Q 2) of a nucleon. 1 to appear in special issue of Acta Physica Polonica in honour of Professor Wojciech Królikowski’s 70th birthday Permanent address

The Transition between Perturbative and Non-perturbative Qcd
We study both polarized and unpolarized proton structure functions in the kinematical region of large Bjorken x and four-momentum transfer of few GeV. In this region the phenomenon of parton-hadron duality takes place between the smooth continuation of the deep inelastic scattering curve and the average of the nucleon resonances. We present results on a perturbative-QCD analysis using all recen...
متن کاملPolarized Deep Inelastic Diffractive Scattering near the Light Cone
Inclusive unpolarized and polarized deeply inelastic diffractive scattering at high energies and momentum transfer is one of the important processes in lepton–nucleon scattering. As found by experiment, cf. [1], there are interesting relations between the cross sections of these processes and those of inclusive deeply inelastic scattering: i) the scaling violations of both processes are quite s...
متن کاملSmall-x Resummations for the Structure Functions F
The numerical effects of the known all-order leading and next-toleading logarithmic small-x contributions to the anomalous dimensions and coefficient functions of the unpolarized singlet evolution are discussed for the structure functions F ep 2 (x, Q ), F ep L (x, Q ), and F eγ 2 (x, Q ). Introduction The evolution kernels of the deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) structure functions contain larg...
متن کاملHigher Twist Contributions to Deep-Inelastic Structure Functions
In wide kinematic regions the deeply inelastic structure functions can be described by their leading twist contributions within Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). Higher twist corrections [1] emerge both in the region of large [2,3] and small values [4,5] of the Bjorken variable x. The leading twist sector, both for unpolarized and polarized deeply inelastic scattering, is well explored within pertu...
متن کاملIntegral Relations for Twist 2 and Twist 3 Contributions to Polarized Structure Functions
We discuss the relations between the twist 2 and twist 3 contributions to polarized deep-inelastic scattering structure functions both for neutral and charged current interactions which are predicted by the operator product expansion in lowest order in QCD. INTRODUCTION In the case of polarized deep inelastic scattering the cross sections depend on (up to) three unpolarized Fi(x,Q 2)3i=1 and fi...
